Music has two parts to it. The melody and the lyrics. It’s at the end of the bridge when the twain finally meet, that we sometimes discover the third part. Emotion.
Combined with your own experiences and memories, it can evoke such strong emotions that it will compel you to drive the bridge on a never ending time loop.
From euphoria to nostalgia, the journey to utopia is one helluva ride.
To think of it, we can draw parallel between favourite songs and people.
The inner circle. The chosen ones.
The ones that stay on your playlist forever, through all the seasons in the sun.
Striking the right chords with your soul and elevating every minute with you. Uncovering each other, piece by piece and unlocking a new dimension with every conversation. Evolving as you age, never losing its old school charm.
Breezing through life like you’re walking on sunshine is the core job description. Whatever mood you’re in, an instant adrenaline rush is guaranteed. Pairs well with alcohol and a whole lotta fun. Or a workout session with your buddy.
An acoustic country song with a guitar and some deadly philobombs what this person looks like. Accompanied with some coffee, regrets and a walk down memory lane, this one can be a real tearjerker. It can be a cathartic experience and can creep up on you when least expected. You can be assured of one thing, you will be left with a smile on your face.
A show reel of all the giddy romances dominate the headspace as you navigate your way. Dreamy and hopeful. Silky voice which propels you into clouds and under the light of a thousand stars. Transition to daily life is quite challenging after spending 3 minutes in this universe. Sometimes, makes you wonder if the person is surreal. Don’t worry, effects of this song and person are temporary, they wear off after 24-48 hours.
The one inside of you. One that no one has uncovered yet. One that you’re afraid of uttering to anyone, should they run away when they discover your vices. One that only this damn song gets and its bloody therapeutic. As you listen to it each time, it washes you with holy water and cleanses your soul.
It’s time to refresh the Spotify playlist and maybe, reconnect with the people in your life.
The global and local music countdowns like to mix it up on weekly basis, let’s take a leaf of inspiration from them!
